About Erin Community Radio Inc. 91.7  CHES


Erin Radio is a non-profit, community-focused, volunteer-run, community radio station that will act as a forum for people, issues and events that traditionally lack media access by promoting user-generated content and citizen journalism in an effort to engage the local community. Erin Radio is located on the Main Street in the beautiful Village of Erin.


Arts, cultural and music programming will be produced or hosted by local artists, performers, musicians, storytellers, DJs, and other community members who know The Town of Erin and the surrounding areas well. More than anything, we want to put “community” back into radio and we invite you to Join Us


Erin Radio plays everything from today's top 40, classic rock, indie, country, jazz, folk, and more! We broadcast to the Town of Erin, Hillsburgh, Alton, Orangeville, Shelburne, and the Hills of Headwaters.

Board of Directors

Jay Mowat

Jay Mowat started Erin Radio in 2005. He brings with him 30 years of broadcasting and journalism experience from working at the CBC. Jay has won two Gemini Awards for Broadcast Journalism. Jay also has extensive experience with grant writing and broadcast technology and equipment.

Phil Taylor

Phil has been with the radio station since 2008. He is on the Board of Directors and is the stations Music Director and Producer. Phil has recently acted as a judge for the Juno Awards, and the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Mike Thurnell


Mike began his radio announcing career while still in college working at radio stations in Guelph, Cambridge, Stratford and Kitchener.  After graduating from the Broadcast Radio and Television Program at Conestoga College, Mike went on to hold numerous key positions at radio stations all over Ontario.  Working as a Program and Music Director, Promotions and Production Manager and eventually station management. Mike teaches radio at his Alma Mata and when he’s not involved in radio, you'll find him listening to music or writing his other great passion.sions.

Bryce Butcher


Ray Young

Ray has been with the radio station since 2006. He has acted as Chair of the Board and Radio Host. Ray brings with him an extensive background in Human Resources and Labour Relations.

Rob Dodds

Rob has been with the radio station since 2006. He has acted as a  Board Director and Radio Host. Rob has a background in acting in local theatre productions, equipment set up, and carpentry.
